Buchan Tag Rugby Success

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2010

The Buchan School tag rugby team has once again won the title for the third year running for Isle of Man Tag Rugby Champions.

On Wednesday 24th February, the Isle of Man National Tag Rugby finals were held at the NSC, Douglas.

The top two teams from each of the area tournaments (North, South, East and West) were present, and as the Buchan School were winners and runners-up of the Southern School’s tournament, they were strongly represented by two teams.

Both teams played tremendously well against some very strong opposition with the Buchan B team finishing 5th out of the original 32 teams and their 'A' team winning all 5 of their matches to retain the title of Isle of Man Tag Rugby Champions.

The competition is now in its third year, and the Buchan School have been the winners on all three occasions.

The Buchan School A Team will now travel to the UK National finals at Rugby school in July, where they will compete along with 19 other schools.

Out of an original entry of 1600 schools, the top two winning teams will then go on to experience the ultimate for any Rugby fans, with a once in a lifetime opportunity to play at Twickenham before an England match.

With a potential 85,000 cheering fans in the crowd, this will truly be a memorable day for the final two teams.
