'People power' saves the day

by isleofman.com 17th March 2010

Island campaigners determined to save the reciprocal health agreement are celebrating what they're calling a victory for people power.

Many residents anxious about finding insurance for travel to the UK have taken part in a relentless letter-writing campaign, aimed at the Manx and UK governments.

On Tuesday, more than 100 protestors demonstrated outside the Tynwald building, demanding action from the Manx government to secure a new agreement.

Trades Council president Angela Moffatt says the campaigners take the credit for forcing a turn-around.
