DoT Work Underway at Cross Four Ways

by isleofman.com 17th March 2010

Motorists in the south of the Island are advised to allow more time for their journeys, particularly at peak times, with work underway on improvements to the Cross Four Ways junction in Malew.

The works involves reconstructing the road from Billown Quarry to the junction; upgrading of drainage at the junction; resurfacing of the main road through the junction; and realignment of the existing southern boundary wall on the Ballasalla side of the A7 and the northern boundary wall on the Colby side of the A7 to improve visibility for motorists.

There have been a number of accidents over the last five years where lack of forward visibility has been a contributory factor.

Traffic is being controlled under four-way traffic lights, and temporary closures will be required to reconstruct the wall and when the junction is resurfaced.

The timings of the road closures will be dependent on progress within the scheme, and full details of each closure will be publicised when the dates have been confirmed.

The scheme is scheduled to be completed by late May, in time for the TT festival.
