Great Result for Manx Concert Brass

by isleofman.com 15th March 2010

Manx Concert Brass is celebrating this morning (Mon 15th) after securing an impressive fifth place in the National Brass Band Championship in Blackpool.

It was only the second time the band had competed in the first section of the competition.

The UK's top bands each had to perform a set test piece and the band only missed out on promotion to the prestigious Championship section by half a mark.

Douglas Town Band also gained a solid result with a ninth place out of 19 bands in the 3rd section, just 3 places short of the prizes. However coupled with last year's result, it's hoped the band will now have a guaranteed promotion to the second section.

Ramsey Town band were hot on their heels with a 12th place in the third section.
