Coastguard issue lifebelt plea

In the wake of the successful rescue of a man from Douglas Bay the public are being urged not to tamper with life saving equipment.

A 52-year old man was pulled from the sea earlier this week in a rescue involving police, paramedics, the lifeboat and the coastguard.

The rescue was hampered by the two nearest lifebelts on Douglas promenade being missing from their holders.

Coastguard station master Dave Keggin says he despairs of the people who tamper with them:
