Health dangers overshadow start to Crufts

by isleofman.com 11th March 2010

Britain's biggest dog show gets under way in Birmingham today (Thursday) and organisers are on the alert for dogs in make-up.

Judges at Crufts are also on the lookout for any animals who've had cosmetic surgery.

There are nearly 28,000 entries this year with a number of dogs from the Isle of Man competing in many classes.

Health issues facing pedigree dogs remain too, although local dog breeder Virginia Dowty says the Kennel Club has tightened rules to ensure animal health is put first.
