Arcade Shows Good Taste in Music

by isleofman.com 9th March 2010

Following on from the success of 'Soundbites' in 2009, the Isle of Man Arts Council has announced another week of lunchtime music in the Villa Marina Arcade.

The inaugural Soundbites celebrated the refurbishment of the Arcade and was so well-attended that the Arts Council repeated the event in August 2009.

The new Soundbites sessions will run from Monday 15th to Friday 19th March between 1pm and 2pm. Performances are free and people are welcome to bring along their lunch.

The line up for the week will be a mix of local bands and artists, featuring the cream of the Island's musical talent.

The week's line-up is as follows:

15th March  King Chiaullee
16th March  Classical Trio
17th March  Redgap
18th March  Truman Falls
19th March  The Jim Caine Quartet

Emma Callin, Arts Development Manger, said, "Since it reopened last year, the Villa Marina Arcade has become quite an established music venue.

"As well as the Wurlitzer organ being installed there it has seen two Soundbites, the Arts Council’s Brass Band and Manx Music seasons, some of the Guitarfest events and other concerts and performances.

"Soundbites started to build a loyal following in 2009 and we hope to see some familiar faces as well as people coming to enjoy live music in their lunch hour for the first time."

Further information about Soundbites can be obtained from the Arts Council - call (01624) 694598 or visit www.iomarts.com.
