A small minority of irresponsible users have made it necessary to introduce new regulations at Sulby Claddagh.
Responses to a consultation on new management arrangements have helped shape the Department of Agriculture policy.
Some 99 replies were received representing a wide range of opinions.
Whilst there was equal division on several matters, it was clear there was an overwhelming desire to see camping continue at the Claddagh, albeit with improved controls in place.
The revised proposals include key changes such as the zoning of activities including a reduced area for camping, the creation of an extended 'riverside recreational area' with no overnight parking and banning the use of generators overnight.
Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne says whilst the vast majority of Claddagh users are responsible, a lot of issues needed to be resolved.
Mr Gawne says he doesn't believe the new regulations will involve too much bureaucracy for the area but WILL hopefully weed out the trouble makers.
The new regulations come into effect in time for the start of the new camping season on May 1.
