Raising minimum wage the 'correct' decision

by isleofman.com 6th March 2010

The Trade and Industry Minister says he believes raising the minimum wage to ?6.10 for over 18s was the right thing to do.

A figure of ?6.06 was arrived at by a committee which carried out an impact assessment.

It was the first time such an exercise had been carried out by the committee which consists of representatives of workers and employers under an independent chairman.

David Cretney says that figure was upped to ?6.10 after he and the Treasury Minister Allan Bell looked at the recommendations.
