Bacchas defeat champions in thriller

by isleofman.com 6th March 2010

It’s advantage Bacchas in the Mixed Premier Division.

They won a seven goal thriller to defeat the reigning champions Valkyrs A and move four points clear on Saturday.

An Andy Vernon-Browne double and one apiece from Jamie Brown and Richard Le Page fired Bacchas to a 4-3 success.

Ollie Webster (two) and Neil Jacobs scored the goals for Valkyrs but they slipped to a first defeat of the season and to third in the table.

Falcons are up to second after a rout of bottom club Ramsey.

They hit 14(!) in a 14-2 demolition.

Gerry Quinn hit four. There were doubles from Steve Crowe, Andy Harding, Juan Corlett and Kirsty Cooper and one each from Conor Byrne and Kim Carney.

Dan Stevenson and Karmina Kovanda scored the goals on a miserable day for Ramsey.

A last minute winner from Jenny Vernon-Browne gave Bacchas B a 2-1 success over Valkyrs B.

Sean Corlett, from the penalty spot, scored their other with Jonah Hull finding the net for Valkyrs.
