Dogfight to avoid relegation continues

by isleofman.com 6th March 2010

It’s a dogfight at the bottom of the Sure Mobile Premier League.

St John’s remain just out of the drop zone at the expense of Michael on goal difference.

But it will be Michael who will take more satisfaction after Saturday’s results.

While St John’s saw off rock bottom Union Mills thanks to a first half goal from Andy Chadwick, Michael secured an important 3-1 success at Corinthians.

Goals from Nick Hurt, Paul Corlett and Chris Blackburn meant Robert Bentley’s equaliser for Corinthians was, ultimately, only a consolation.

Castletown are up to seventh after a 3-1 home win over Gymns.

Goals from Carl Clarke, Steven Wade and 16 year-old Tom Doherty fired Town to all three points and they leapfrog Gymns and Corinthians in the table as a result.

Ciaran McNulty grabbed the Gymns goal.
