Mephedrone unlikely to be a class A

Mephedrone, the legal high known as plant food, isn’t likely to become a class A drug on the Isle of Man.

This week, it’s emerged Guernsey has had a problem with the drug for well over a year and the government there is now to classify the drug in with heroin and ecstasy.

But Department of Health and Social Security member Bill Malarkey says there are no plans to follow that lead here in the Isle of Man.

He says we are taking action to stop the trade in mephedrone, but other drugs will eventually replace it:
