Bye Bye Ben

by isleofman.com 4th March 2010

The Ben-my-Chree will be out of service from three weeks after this afternoon (Friday).

She'll head for a three week stay in dry dock following the 2.15pm Heysham to Douglas sailing.

She’s to undergo her biennial overhaul which will include repairs on the Ben's propellers which were recently damaged in fenders at Victoria Pier.

During that period, the fastcraft Manannan will accomodate all passenger traffic, operating to the Ben my Chree's normal timetable, although she will dock at Liverpool rather than Birkenhead at the weekends.

A chartered vessel will provide the freight service.

Chief Executive of the Steam Packet Mark Woodward says the work is very important.
