Future use of Island churches reviewed

by isleofman.com 4th March 2010

Clergy in every Anglican parish in the Isle of Man have been asked to come up with practical ideas to open up their churches to the local community.

The Bishop made it clear in his report on Mission and Ministry last autumn that church buidlings must find additional uses beyond worship.

He says without change, some churches, especially in rural communites, may not be viable in the long term.

For many that will mean removing pews and renting space to community groups or small enterprises.

Canon Peter Robinson, vicar of Castletown, Arbory and Santon is driving the project forward.
