New reservoir for the north

by isleofman.com 4th March 2010

There are plans to build a new reservoir for the north of the Island.

The Isle of Man Water Authority is submitting an application to construct it off the Glen Auldyn Road.

The Ramsey Service Reservoir, as it'll be known, will provide underground storage of treated water for the whole of the north.

It's hoped construction will start in the summer and take around 12 months to complete.

The Water Authority says the relatively remote location of the works, at the top of the Crossags, is such that the impact on residents will be limited, however the Authority will update them as the work progresses.

The new service reservoir will replace the existing one at Ballure, which is located underneath the old Water Treatment Works and was built around 1860.
