The Chief Guide of the United Kingdom, Liz Burnley, officially received Isle of Man Post Office’s ‘Centenary of Girlguiding’ stamps at Spring 2010 Stampex in London on Friday (26th February 2010).
Liz Burnley was presented with a framed set of the stamps and miniature sheet by Maxine Cannon, Philatelic Bureau Sales and Marketing Manager, Isle of Man Post Office, during an hour long visit.
Liz described the stamps as, "Gorgeous, absolutely wonderful. I like the fact that these stamps show the then and now - that Guides is a relevant organisation today because of our history."
The new stamps depict Rainbows (33p), Brownies (33p), Guides (56p), and Senior Section (?1), while those in the minitiature sheet show Adult Volunteers (?1.50) and the Trefoil Guild (?1.50).
Liz, who completes her five-year elected voluntary position as Chief Guide during 2011, added, "Now that we have these lovely Isle of Man centenary stamps - and they say a lot about guiding today and our history - they are an ideal thing to have as part of our centenary collection."
