Concerns over Peel sewage plans

by isleofman.com 2nd March 2010

Peel Commissioners will tonight debate concerns over facilities to deal with sewage at a new housing development in the town.

Planning permission for 43 new homes has been granted to Dandara, with the scheme to include its own water treatment works.

In the long term that will link-in to the IRIS scheme when a regional treatment works is built in the west of the Island.

But until then, the treated effluent will be discharged into the River Neb and taken out to sea.

Commissioners chairman Rodger Gimbert says the housing development will ultimately see well over 200 new properties built.

At tonight's Board meeting, he'll voice concerns about pollution in the river, which runs past QE2 High School and a golf course.
