Tim Becomes Prison Senior Officer

by isleofman.com 1st March 2010

The Isle of Man Prison has announced the appointment of Tim Hewson as Senior Officer.

Tim, 44, has eight years’ experience as a prison officer and, with another Senior Officer, has responsibility for 18 officers working in social and professional visits and prisoner reception.  His promotion establishes the full complement of 14 Senior Officers at the prison.

He said, "The new prison at Jurby has given the Island a great facility and provides real opportunities for rehabilitating prisoners.  I enjoy my work and am pleased that the sense of community has not been lost with the move from Victoria Road (Douglas).

"I can be walking down Strand Street on my day off and meet ex-prisoners who stop to talk to me, and I think that’s a positive thing.  It says to me the Isle of Man Prison has maintained its Manxness."

When not on duty, Tim enjoys gardening, fell walking with his dogs and watching his two young sons play football.
