Allow gay marriages, Island politicians urged

Allowing lesbian and gay couples to get married would make the Isle of Man the most forward-thinking and progressive area in the British Isles.

That’s the view of a leading human rights campaigner in the UK as the House of Keys prepares to give a second reading to a bill which proposes legal recognition for same-sex couples.

Peter Tatchell was instrumental in legalising adult gay relationships in the Isle of Man.

He believes supporting the latest proposals would have many benefits, both morally and to the Island’s economy.
