New MEA chief looks ahead

by isleofman.com 27th February 2010

The new man at the helm of the Manx Electricity Authority says his experience managing businesses overseas will help him meet the challenges ahead.

Philip King, who has been the MEA's Director of Generation, succeeds Ashton Lewis as Chief Executive.

Mr King takes over as electricity bills are due to go up by seven per cent. The tarriff rise, announced in the Budget, comes into force in April.

That won't be popular, but Mr King says he welcomes the opportunity to lead the MEA through a difficult period and says there are huge opportunities ahead for the industry.
