Speaking another language is good for you bank balance!
That's a claim being made by over 300 British businesses as they launch a campaign to persuade young people to boost their employability by adding a language to their CV.
The scheme, backed by firms such as Boots, HSBC and the Royal Mail, claims the average salary of language graduates three years after finishing university is ahead of most science graduates.
It's been launched as over 300 French and Spanish students on the Island take part in a 'total immersion' conference where they spend the whole day speaking their chosen language with native speakers.
Teresa Tinsley, director of communications at the National Centre for Languages, says there's been a recent decrease in the number of students wishing to study languages at degree level and she hopes this can now be reversed.
