Learning da lingo - Island students take big strides

by isleofman.com 24th February 2010

Language students from all the Island's secondary schools are expecting to make big strides is their mastery of French and Spanish over the next few days.

Around 350 GCSE and A-Level students are taking part in a major language 'immersion' conference at the Manx Museum.

Native French and Spanish speakers who specialise in helping students speak a foreign language will lead the sessions.

The event's billed as the next best thing to actually visiting the country to hear the language spoken.

Assistant head of languages at St Ninian's High School, Julie Desmarchelier, says students won't need their text books.
