Rotary bid to eradicate polio

by isleofman.com 24th February 2010

It's hoped Polio can be eradicated from the world once and and for all.

That's the wish of the International Rotary Association during this 'Polio Plus' week.

The organisation, along with global partners such as the World Health Organisation and UNICEF, has been fighting to stamp out the disease since 1985 with its Polio Plus programme.

James Kewin of the Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann told Howard Caine they'd had great success and it's now the 'final push'.

Rushen and Western Mann Rotary Club will be holding a fundraiser for their work at the Morton Hall in Castletown on Friday, March 5 at 7.30pm.

The night features The Phantoms.
