Grant support regulations to be tightened

Some students leaving the Isle of Man for university are going to have to achieve higher marks to qualify for funding from the Manx government.

Following a consultation on student grants, the Department of Education is set to ask the Council of Ministers to approve an overhaul of regulations.

It is likely to involve raising the threshold for supporting university students from two D grades at A-level to two Cs.

Education Minister Anne Craine says the department wants to be sure it supports the right students:
