Residential homes run by the DHSS are set to become more expensive, as the Isle of Man Government's biggest department struggles to meet tight budgets.
The Social Services Division has announced its intention to start charging more for stays in state run facilities, as part of a raft of measures designed to help it balance the books.
Other planned changes include charging users of Elderly Mentally Infirm Resource Centres and Community Homes.
Director of Social Services Andrew Swithinbank says the move will bring the department into line with the private sector:
