IRIS open days at Ramsey venue

by isleofman.com 22nd February 2010

Plans for the IRIS Northern Regional Sewage Treatment Works, and a new civic amenity site for the area, go on public display this weekend.

The chosen location for both developments is Balladoole Farm on Bride Road, Lezayre, which was bought by the Department of Transport, in conjunction with the Treasury, last year.

The plan is to use part of the site for the sewage works and another section for the amenity site.

The rest of the land would be leased back to the tenant farmer.

The sewage works would treat flows from the Ramsey and Andreas catchment areas, ending the discharge of raw sewage from the outfalls at Ramsey and Rue Point.

Environmental impact assessments are continuing to confirm the suitability of the land for the development.

Open days will be held at Ramsey Town Hall, from 11am to 4pm this Friday and Saturday.
