Treasury Minister Allan Bell is warning this year's budget was only a taste of the pain to come as the Isle of Man tries to balance its books.
He says the Manx government has a long-term plan to deal with the revised VAT agreement with the United Kingdom, which has blown a huge hole in the Island's finances.
Last week's budget saw tax rises and cutbacks in public spending, which Mr Bell says will share the burden of trying to make sure the economy isn't destabilised.
But, on Manx Radio's Sunday Opinion, he said further difficult decisions would have to be made a year from now:
