Marown end brave Braddan's cup hopes

by isleofman.com 20th February 2010

Marown triumphed in a dramatic penalty shoot-out to book their place in the G.H. Woods Corlett Cup semi-finals on Saturday.

After a 2-2 draw over 120 minutes, Marown won 5-4 on spot-kicks to end Braddan’s brave hopes.

Kenny Magee and Jeremy Lovett had put Marown 2-1 in front at the break but Jamie Cain netted from the penalty spot to add to Wil Smith’s first half goal and force extra-time and, ultimately, the shoot-out.

The other big guns in CFS Division Two also secured last four berths.

Division Two leaders Ayre won 4-1 at the Police, courtesy of goals from Jason Craine (two), Phil Quayle and Johnny Kelly.

Douglas Royal also saw off Onchan in emphatic style at Noble’s Park.

Goals from Dave Skillen (two), Craig Dolman (two), Gavin Gawne, Sean Valentine and Jay Gough fired them to a 7-2 victory.
