Champions lose in Manx Shield

by isleofman.com 20th February 2010

Newly crowned Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield champions Southern Nomads went down to a first defeat of the season on Saturday.

They were beaten 7-12 at home to Douglas B.

Paul Gale and Adam Howarth were both in the points for Douglas.

At Glencrutchery Road, Vagabonds B beat Ramsey B 12-10.

Jason Bowden and Jack Moore both picked up tries for Vagas with Moore also adding a decisive conversion.

Ramsey’s promising 17 year-old Danny Webb notched both Ramsey tries but James Wren missed a conversion attempt with the last kick of the game which would have earned his side a draw.

Castletown beat Emerging Nomads 20-3 in the final game of the afternoon.

Dave Edge got Nomads on the board with a penalty but Town were just too strong for them in the end.

James Jones, Conor Stephens and Nick Kieswetter all bagged tries for Town with Ed Alderson weighing in with a conversion and a penalty.
