Island takes part in performing arts festival

It's a big day for members of the girl guide movement across the Isle of Man.

More than 900 Island Brownies, Rainbows, Guides, Rangers and their leaders are taking part in a huge festival of performing arts, which is also being hosted all over the United Kingdom.

It's called 'One World, One Beat' and marks World Thinking Day, one of the most important dates in the guiding calendar.

This morning (Saturday) the girls are learning new skills at singing, dancing, music and drama workshops, and this afternoon they are performing a huge show together at the Villa Marina.

Coordinator Jackie Betteridge says it promises to be a memorable series of events:
