by isleofman.com 19th February 2010

As the work on the organisation of the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games gathers pace the Organising Committee has issued its second newsletter to the 71 nations of the Commonwealth.

As Organising Committee Chairman, Geoff Karran, MBE explained: ‘We aim to ensure on a steady flow of information to the competing nations in order to ensure that not only are they fully aware of what is happening but also that they arrive in the Island full of confidence that it will be a well organised event.’

Minister for Tourism and Leisure, Martyn Quayle MHK added: ‘When I accepted the handover of the Commonwealth Youth Games to the Isle of Man I set out our objective that in September 2011 the youth of the Commonwealth would arrive as our guests and leave as our friends.  I am delighted with the progress which Geoff Karran and his team are making and this newsletter is a great means of communicating our ongoing arrangements for a superb Games.’

As part of the commitment of the Games to sustainability the newsletter is being issued in electronic format and can be downloaded from http://cyg2011.com/images/uploads/Newsletter_February_2010.pdf
