Benefits cheat bailed

by isleofman.com 19th February 2010

Sentence on a 40-year-old benefits cheat from Douglas has been adjourned for reports.

Joseph Langton, of Peveril Road in Willaston, admitted four charges of making false statements to obtain social security benefits, in July and August last year.

The prosecution said Langton claimed over ?2,200 worth of incapacity and income support, while he was working.

He didn't tell the DHSS, and when interviewed told department staff he thought the work was only temporary.

Deputy High Bailiff Alastair Montgomerie bailed Langton until March 12.
