A woman was rescued from a house fire in Castletown yesterday evening.
Fire crews were called out to the property on Bromet Road, Janet's Corner, just after seven o' clock.
Firemen using breathing apparatus entered the premises and removed the woman, who was suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.
She was subsequently taken to Noble's Hospital by ambulance.
The blaze was caused by burning materials falling out of an open fire onto the surrounding carpet, which was only slightly damaged.
The fire service are reminding you to not overload open fires with fuel, as this can lead to overspill of hot coals into your room.
Also, always use a spark guard as they can prevent a serious house fire.
