MEA chairman issues electricity price pledge

The Chairman of the Manx Electricity Authority says the most vulnerable will be protected from a seven per cent rise in their bills following yesterday’s budget.

Quintin Gill MHK says those most in need won’t have to pay as cash is ring-fenced to help them.

The increase will be introduced in April and comes just months after prices went up late last year.

Mr Gill explained the rise in costs was the MEA’s contribution to the government’s drive to save money as it faced a difficult budget year:
