The Department of Health and Social Security has announced that, following a comprehensive tendering process, the contract for the provision of Air Ambulance Services from the Isle of Man has been awarded to Capital Air Charter Ltd, who will assume responsibility for the service in April. Woodgate Aviation currently provides this service.
Capital Air Charter, based in Exeter, is the Air Ambulance provider to Jersey Health and Social Services.
They have been operating for over 19 years and have a substantial fleet, including six Piper Chieftain PA31 and two Beechcraft King Air aircraft.
They will provide a complete 24 hour, 365 days a year Air Ambulance Service with a dedicated, fully equipped, supported and crewed plane based at Ronaldsway Airport.
The Minister for Health and Social Security, Eddie Teare, MHK, said, "Whilst I appreciate change is always difficult, the new provider will offer the same high standards of services we have come to expect. I recognise the excellent service which has been provided by Woodgate aviation and I wish them well in the future."
