Eco-tax to target gas-guzzlers

Transport Minister David Anderson says new car taxes will hit gas-guzzlers in the pocket.

The new bands of vehicle duty for cars and vans imported to the Isle of Man will be graded by CO2 emissions rather than by engine size.

The idea is to discourage motorists from driving the most polluting cars, and rewarding those who help the environment.

Mr Anderson says while the standard rate will go up 10 percent, those with smaller cars will see tax cut by ?10:
