Bus crashes into Isle of Man Bank

A bus crashed into a building on Athol Street this morning.

The incident happened around 9.50 when the double decker, which was coming down Prospect Hill, appears to have hit a bollard in the middle of the road as it turned into the street.

The vehicle then collided with the side of the Isle of Man Bank.

Witnesses who spoke to the bus driver say he believes the brakes had failed.

He also told them he was on his way back from a school run.

Athol Street was immediately closed from its junction with Prospect Hill to the junction with Church Street to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.
