August deadline for Bowl work

by isleofman.com 12th February 2010

Work on the redevelopment of The Bowl has to start by August for the venue to be ready for the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games, according to the chairman of the organising committee.

Geoff Karran says he's delighted Douglas Corporation has voted to to offer The Bowl and the adjacent car park to the Isle of Man Government, in return for a long-term lease to operate the car park as a pay and display operation throughout the working week.

Planning and contracts will now be sought for the scheme, but final approval for the money required is unlikely to be voted on in Tynwald until as late as July.

Geoff Karran says for the project to finally go ahead, there is no margin for error over the summer.
