Compromise Bowl deal - will it be accepted?

by isleofman.com 10th February 2010

A compromise deal on the Bowl stadium is being put on the table by Douglas council leader David Christian today (Wednesday).

The Corporation's offered to sell the facility to the Department of Tourism and Leisure for ?1 - but has so far refused to let go of the car park.

Government wants to redevelop the Bowl in time for the Commonwealth Youth Games next year and has told the council without the car park there's no deal.

At a Corporation meeting today, leader David Christian will propose the car park be handed over with the proviso the council can run it as a weekday pay-and-display.

He says it's a workable solution.
