Fishermen join farmers in DAFF protest

by isleofman.com 9th February 2010

Fishermen say they’re extremely concerned over government plans to get rid of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Earlier today outside the House of Keys, Tom Bryan-Brown of the Isle of Man Fishermen’s Association joined farmers protesting against the moves.

He says many of the association’s members are currently at sea fishing for scallops – but felt it was important to be represented at the demonstration.

Mr Bryan-Brown says moving responsibility for the Island’s fisheries into a new Department of Communities, Culture and Leisure is proving deeply unpopular within the industry.
