by isleofman.com 8th February 2010

A World War Two hand grenade has been discovered in Laxey.

It was unearthed by a resident carrying out ground works on Saturday afternoon.

After a risk assessment and advice from a military explosives officer, the grenade was recovered by police and will be destroyed.

No-one was ever in any danger and police are praising the individual for contacting them.

They’re also reminding members of the public that items of this type pose a potential risk to life, should not be handled under any circumstances and anyone who finds them should contact the police immediately.
