Road closures need safeguards

by isleofman.com 7th February 2010

Douglas Council says it won’t oppose the possibility of more road closures to allow bike racing – but it wants some safeguards put in place.

The Corporation has put its views to the Department of Tourism and Leisure which is carrying out consultation about the possibility of holding races on Sundays.

Council Leader David Christian says in principle there’s no objection, as long as the council’s consulted properly before decisions are made.

He says he understands some people are less than enthusiastic about the idea of yet more road closures.
