Strand Street lighting set for a revamp

by isleofman.com 6th February 2010

Strand Street’s lighting is set for an upgrade this year as Douglas Council tries to tackle an ongoing problem.

After a complaint about the state of Christmas lights last year, the Council says it’s now hoping to install new lights to make the main shopping street a brighter place to be.

But there are problems – most of the lamps are mounted on building walls and the owners need to be consulted before work can be done.

Councillor Ritchie McNicholl says the current project is being carried out alongside the Douglas Development Partnership as part of the town’s regeneration.
