Major corporate financial adviser MAC Financial has helped Save the Children (Isle of Man) reach its ?90,000 fundraising target.
Through a combination of sales and a donation from the company, MAC Financial has been able to present the charity with a cheque for ?4,500.
Receiving the cheque, Save the Children (Isle of Man) vice-president Hugh Davidson said, "Thanks to the generosity of MAC Financial and the people of the Isle of Man, together with support from the Manx Overseas Aid Committee which provided matched funding, we have hit our ?90,000 target.
"This is a tremendous achievement and puts the Douglas branch second out of more than 400 Save the Children branches across the British Isles in terms of funds raised in the charity’s 90th anniversary year. Only the Chelsea and Westminster branch raised more.
"The ?90,000 will support a healthcare and education project in Rwanda, specifically in the small village of Rubeya, one of the poorest places in the world with a high infant mortality rate.
"A recent update from Rwanda reports that good progress is being made on extending the maternity wing and adding a mothers’ waiting room, while the health centre is being equipped, solar power is to be installed and healthcare staff training is due to start soon.
"On the education side, along with upgrading facilities in the schools, teacher training is the main focus to ensure the children receive good quality education in early childhood and that the teachers learn positive discipline techniques.
"The partnership with MAC Financial, with their innovative MAC90 products and commitment to youth-focused projects, has proved invaluable and I look forward to a continued association with Jon and his colleagues."
MAC Financial managing director Jon McGowan said, "This partnership with Save the Children is a good fit with our corporate and social responsibility strategy. All of us at MAC Financial have been pleased to support this very worthy cause and I wish Hugh and the charity continued success."
