Early day motion receives increased support

by isleofman.com 4th February 2010

Forty MPs have added their support to an attempt to defer the cancellation of the Reciprocal Health Agreement.

Only last week the Labour MP Andrew Mackinlay tabled an early day motion in the House of Commons, calling on the Secretary of State for Health to review the decision to end the agreement.

The agreement is due to end at the start of April, something which Mr Mackinlay says is unfair for Island residents and will also ‘substantially disadvantage UK residents’.

Earlier this week, the House of Keys supported Peter Karran’s bid to introduce a bill which would provide universal health insurance for people travelling to and from the Isle of Man.
