An emergency road closure has been put in place after a water main burst at the top of Fishers Hill in Castletown.

The road is closed from Ballakeighan Corner through to the Kentraugh Back Road and it's expected to remain closed for around six hours (from midday).

Drivers will be diverted along the Colby Main Road.

The incident is described as serious and Water Authority workers and police are at the site.

Motorists are advised to take extreme care and, if possible, avoid the area.
