Report was to 'check growth of government'

by isleofman.com 3rd February 2010

The chairman of the 'scope and structure' review group, whose finding provided the starting point for this week's government departmental revamp, says concerns about the size of government had been one of the drivers.

Proposed changes to the structure, to be voted on now by Tynwald, include seven new departments with new responsibilities.

Former Clerk to Tynwald, Robert Quayle, whose grouping included former Chief Minister Sir Miles Walker, says suggestions were aimed at 'slimming' government down.
