'Race against time' for health insurance scheme

Health Minister Eddie Teare is hopeful he can introduce a health insurance scheme for the Isle of Man by the time the Reciprocal Health Agreement with the United Kingdom comes to an end.

He announced the plans in the House of Keys yesterday, saying it was for people who had been refused cover elsewhere.

Officials at the DHSS are working out final details in order to be able to lay the scheme before Tynwald in March, just in time for the April 1 deadline, when the current agreement runs out.
