The Department of Tourism and Leisure says the Island beat the credit crunch last year by attracting more visitors.
Over the year, the Passenger Survey compiled by the Treasury shows more than 287,000 people visited the Isle of Man over 2009, compared with just 275,000 in 2008.
The statistics, which include business visitors, those visiting friends or relatives and day visits, rose 4.3 per cent over the year.
And there’s good news for the hospitality industry, with a rise of five per cent in leisure visitors staying in paid accommodation.
The statistics published today (Friday) show more people chose to stay at home in the Island last year - resident travel fell by 9.3 per cent.
