New Headteacher for Scoill Phurt le Moirrey

by isleofman.com 29th January 2010

The Department of Education has announced that Riss Forrester will be the new Headteacher of Scoill Phurt le Moirrey.

Mrs Forrester (pictured) will take up the position in April, succeeding Geoff Moorcroft, who has been Headteacher since 2006 and who is joining the Department of Education from April as a Primary School Improvement Adviser.

Mrs Forrester was educated at St Thomas’ School in Douglas and the Buchan School.  She trained in Leeds and started teaching on the Island at St Mary’s School in Douglas in 1994, having previously worked in Criminal Justice, employed by the Salvation Army at David Gray House.

She subsequently moved to Auldyn School as Deputy Headteacher in 2006 and was seconded to Scoill Ree Gorree for a term last September while a new Deputy was appointed to the school.

She comments, "I am thrilled to have been appointed as Headteacher and am looking forward to meeting the children and families of Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey.

"I will be working alongside Mr Moorcroft over the next six weeks to ensure there is a smooth handover.

"I will be very sorry to leave Auldyn, having formed so many great relationships with children and families within the Ramsey community, and I will be sad to say goodbye to such a fantastic staff team."

Mrs Forrester is married with one daughter and lives in Douglas.  She enjoys travelling, reading and going to the theatre in her spare time.
